So I've been wanting to get a tattoo for a while (I don't have any), but haven't been able to think of anything I like enough that I want it on my body permanently.

I'm thinking, though, about getting this on my left calf if (when!) I pass my qualifying exam and get my master's degree in June.

Any thoughts?

You don't like the design? The quote? Tattoos in general?

tattoos in general, but it's not about that.;
source of the quotation - i'd get rid of it;
or you could make it a real shoe sole indent pattern, and then have it photographed with high contrast sort-a lit-from-the-side, and then tattoo it - still i wouldn't use the source on it...

Hmmm ... those are all good ideas! I'll mull them over. :)

see i was thinking instead of the words inside the shoe, just get like 5 little footprints and know in your own mind what it means... although there is a chance it could be misconstrued as the christian poem symbol, if people ask you could quote it. meaning conversation could ensue.

See, though, if I did that, I might have unpleasant experiences where I'm walking around in shorts and showing off my tattooed leg, and hotties'd be all, "Yeah, I'd hit that, but he loves Jeeziz." Which would be sad.

Like this: [link] I don't necessarily like the font going on, but it would be neat to play with it.

Hmmm ... I see what you mean. It's an interesting approach. Maybe I'll play with that if I ever get some free time. :)

Snazzy... though were it me, I'd do some serious typography work to it to make it more of a design. I like the sentiment though.

Yeah ... you're right. Page-layout programs aren't really appropriate for real typographic work, alas, at least not without some serious and effort-full tweaking. Still, I just need a sketch to take to the tattoo parlor after I get the degree ... I assume they'll fill in the details. :)

Thanks! I've got some good feedback from non-dA channels, too. Watch for an update, probably next week (if I ever get this damn term paper written ... and my student finals graded ...). :)

Get the design printed on a t-shirt first. If you can live with that for a long time... then consider getting the tattoo.
