If your life was a movie, what would the Soundtrack be like?
and that's the way it goes:
1. Fire up your music player (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Set it to "Shuffle"
3. Press "Play"
4. For every question, write down the song that's being played
5. for every new question, press "Next"
6. DON'T LIE
(Ok, here we go....)
Opening credits:

"What If We Give It Away" - R.E.M. (Probably a good idea, if it's mine.)

Shall we go shopping, Mrs. Gorilla?
The Link System: CHECK IT OUT
And the iPod does know me much too well. Sometimes it reveals my deepest secrets ... I keep threatening to trade it for a cheap flash-drive mp3 player, but will it listen? No ....

And I say, what's the point of putting boring crap on the iPod? Monster must be one of my all-time favorite albums ... I've been listening to it for fifteen years and still pull it out once or twice a month.
Who is "we"?

I haven't dug all the way back through your gallery but will look at the early stuff in the near future. (It probably won't be tonight, though.) I certainly do like what I have seen of your work, though.
What I do? ... for work, I assume you mean. I'm going back to school this fall, but until then I'm the night manager at an answering service. It's a high-stress, low-pay, no-benefits job where only mistakes get noticed. Last week I took 1335 calls; 1333 were handled impeccably. Did I hear about them? No; I got disciplinary paperwork to fill out on the other two. Ugh. I keep saying "four more months" to myself throughout the work day. Meanwhile, the boss is constantly reminding everyone how lucky they are to have their part-time, near-minimum wage jobs at all in the current economy.
I have to stop now or I'll keep going on all night.
Thank you again for the support and encouragement. Have I mentioned that I really like your work?

You can certainly ask. I'll be entering the MA/Ph.D. program in English literature at UC Santa Barbara in the fall. After the last few years, I have a much better sense of how lucky I'm going to be to be a professional academic and spending my time on something I'm passionate about. I've spent the last few years scraping the bottom of the employment barrel. Of course, in rural Oregon, the barrel is all bottom.
Looking forward to seeing your music survey thingy.
